What I collect, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. Written in plain English, because you should be able to read it.

Clever Rabbit is the trading name of Ben Brailsford-Chambers, a sole trader based in the UK. I'm the data controller for the personal information described here, which means I decide how it's used and I'm responsible for looking after it.
There are no forms on this site. I only get personal information when you choose to send it, through the chat assistant, or through the analytics described in section 4.
UK data protection law says I need a lawful reason for each use. Here are mine:
| What for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and quoting for work | Taking steps at your request before a contract, and my legitimate interest in answering people who contact me |
| Answering your questions in the chat assistant | My legitimate interest in helping visitors quickly |
| Passing on an enquiry you make in the chat assistant | Taking steps at your request before a contract |
| Doing the work you've paid for, and hosting your site | Contract |
| Invoices, accounts and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Understanding how the site is used (Google Analytics) | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keeping the site and servers secure | Legitimate interests |
I don't send marketing emails, I don't sell your data, and I don't use it for automated decisions about you.
Essential storage. The site keeps a small note in your browser so the logo intro only plays once per visit. It's deleted when you close the tab. WordPress may also set cookies that the site needs to work. Neither needs your consent.
Google Analytics. These cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) only load if you click accept on the cookie banner. They last up to two years. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your cookies for this site, which brings the banner back.
Google Fonts. Some pages load fonts from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. Google doesn't use this to profile you.
Only the services I need to run the business, and only as much as they need:
I'll also share information if the law requires it.
Some of these providers, including Google, Meta, Anthropic and Stripe, may process data in the United States or elsewhere. When they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US Data Bridge) or the standard contractual clauses approved by the ICO.
You can ask me to:
Just email hello@cleverrabbit.agency. It's free, and I'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
The “Ask Clever Rabbit” chat gives instant, automated answers about my services using information I've written for it. It isn't a person, and it doesn't make decisions about you. If you'd like to be contacted, it checks with you first, then emails your name, contact details and the conversation to me. Please don't share sensitive personal information, passwords or payment details in the chat.
The chat window only loads when you open it, and it doesn't set cookies. If you'd rather not use it, you can always email or WhatsApp me instead.
If I build or host a website for a client, that client is the data controller for anything their visitors submit, including messages to a Clever Rabbit chat assistant on their site, and I act as their data processor. That means I only handle that data on their instructions. Visitors to those sites should read the site owner's own privacy policy. The details of how I handle that data are in my terms and conditions.
If I change how I use personal information, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If you have any questions, email hello@cleverrabbit.agency.
